CarMD is a lifesaver, not only for your car but for you too. This little handheld device is about the size of a small but thick remote control. It plugs into your car’s computer (as long as the car is a 1996 and above) and monitors and helps you maintain the health of your vehicle.

When you plug it into your car’s computer there are multiple lights on the tester. Red, yellow and green indicate the issues (or health) or your vehicle. Thanks to the software you can diagnose not only one car, but up to three with the CarMD computer software. What could you use it for?

We used the CarMD on my team members car, since it had the Check Engine light on. My husband was so excited to use this, and knew exactly what to do with it. They plugged it in and ran the diagnostics. When ran it gave the code: P0171. According to the software this issue pertains to the engine getting too much air and not enough fuel. The suggestion was to clean it out. Which was done prior to us testing. So they unplugged the battery (which turns off the check engine light temporarily) and voila! It didn’t come back on.

In Massachusetts we have to test our vehicles emissions every other year, so this CarMD could save us a lot of time, hassle and money. Before we bring the vehicle in we can test the cars emissions output and make sure it meets the guide lines. How cool is that?

My verdict? This would make a fantastic Father’s Day gift for the car fan in your life. My husband wanted to try it out on all the vehicles he could!
