It’s time for Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. Over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
In eleven days I am going to be having my second child, a sweet baby girl (we’re doing a planned c-section, that’s the reason I know the date). So of course I’ve spent the last several weeks trying to make sure I’ve got all the little things we’ll need for our new little bundle of joy. We had to buy a new infant car seat (we sprung for this Graco Travel System) since we gave our old one away but a lot of things, like a crib, co-sleeper and pack and play we still had from our first baby – and we got a lot of great baby clothes between the gender neutral infant clothes we held onto and things we’ve been given from family and friends. So while there are still things I want (some baby wraps and carriers would be lovely and I’m very interested in trying cloth diapers this time around) we’ve got a lot of our newborn essentials down… I hope.
My Aloha Friday questions this week are:
- What are your newborn essentials? What things are a MUST?
- If you could splurge on one great thing for your next baby, what would you get?

I could not live without the velcroing swaddling blankets. They really helped calm my babies down. I also really loved my swing!

Hmmm If I could splurge for a “next” baby I’d definitely get a nice co-sleeper. She was in the bassinet next to us, it served its purpose well. But I wanted a co-sleeper for Charlie originally. OH AND {lol} a high quality wooden round crib. Ugh, beautiful.

Not an essential, but I was totally in love with Baby Legs! You can get them at Target or online. They’re like little baby leg warmers/knee protectors. Awesome for when they start crawling because it helps prevent rug burn on those precious knees! I used them a lot in conjunction with onesies, because even in the summer time I wanted to keep their little legs warm in our air conditioned house.
I could not have lived without a changing pad which I used on the floor. That protection was essential! I also loved having a diaper genie.

Diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, onesies, socks, hat, receiving blankets, car seat, baby bath… hmmm, it was only 11 months ago, but I can’t seem to think of the rest right now.
I am considering a diaper genie (currently) and for the next one.

A sound system for white noise or rain. Somethings soothing for babies would be nice. I think that Baby Einstein has a great one.

My grandchildren’s mommas loved the video baby moniters and a sound music along with a lullaby bedtime music hanging on the crib. Blessings as you prepare for this precious little one!
I think you are all set with the most essential thing you need: LOVE!!
Don’t worry about anything else – you’ll get it.
Congratulations and I hope you both stay healthy, and all of the family is happy.
