When I started washing cloth diapers, there was a lot of internal debate over what detergents to wash them with. The main criteria when shopping was to find something with no dyes or softeners that would do a good job for a good price and eventually we settled on Purex Free & Clear plus a laundry booster like Borax or the new ARM & HAMMER® Super Washing Soda Detergent Booster. I recieved a box of this laundry booster from Mariner Marketing, the current agency of record for consumer product giant, Church & Dwight, who own cleaning products like Arm & Hammer, OxiClean and Kaboom. Check out all of their products at GreatCleaners.com.
My Opinion:
I was very impressed with the Arm & Hammer detergent booster, which is a great thing to add to your laundry in addition to your regular detergent, especially if you have hard water in your home (i.e. non-well water with added flouride and other chemicals which help make your water safer to drink but can make it harder for soaps to clean as effectively). A detergent booster essentially softens the water, allowing your soap to go farther when cleaning. I use it daily when washing diapers and occasionally with a load of towels or an overly smelly load of laundry.
I know most of us will know and recognize Arm & Hammer as a brand we trust – I use their baking soda for all sorts of things, from cooking to cleaning to eliminating nasty odors. The other day our diaper pail was especially smelly after adding the mother of all diapers and a sprinkle of Arm & Hammer baking soda took care of that odor in seconds, seriously. The Super Washing Soda is another great multi tasking cleaner – you can even use it to help unclog a drain! And as always, you can find these products in major stores everywhere.

When I have a really dirty load of whites (socks, t-shirts, etc.) I pour a little liquid stain remover right into the wash. It really makes the clothes sparkle!

Fold your clothes and put them away or hang them up as soon as they are done and then things don’t pile up. A little at a time is much easier to deal with.

My best laundry tip: When anyone in my house gets a stain on their clothing (food, grass, etc….) the rule is: put in on top of the washing machine, not in the laundry hamper. This way I can pre-treat the stain right away so the stain doesnt “set-in” while sitting in the hamper for a few days. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

I follow on twitter@lambchop1965 I always use a stain remover before I wash.
My tip is dealing with little bitty baby clothes. I use lingerie or small mesh bags to separate socks from cloth diapers and other misc items that I do not want to get lost in the wash. Then matching pairs is easy. Ohm and fold clothes right away.

my best laundry tip, if you hate ironing, is to pull the clothes out of the dryer 10 mins or so into the cycle and hang them up to finish drying

Bad laundry experience – my first year in college I shrunk two sweaters by putting them through a hot water wash! I learned to read the washing instructions after that!
With two tenagers not to mention an older son who is studing to be e chef Ithink the worst is the studing chef. He has to wear a white jacket and comes home with any stain you can think of gravy, marinara, grease and I think the grease stains are the worst.

My worst laundry experience was when I accidentally washed my hubby’s silk boxer shorts in hot water & then they went through the dryer. Talk about a shriveled up shrunken mess!
