If you’ve already played twelve too many games of Chutes and Ladders or Candyland with your kids and are looking for something new and fresh, but still at their age level, you should check out this cute game by Zobmondo!!, The Ladybug Game which was created by Kylie Copenhagen when she was just six years old! Here’s a quick snippet of the story which starts the game.

“Once upon a time in a beautiful rose garden there were four ladybug friends who flew among the leaves, exploring their sweet-smelling home. Although they loved the rosebushes, sometimes they wondered what lay beyond their world. Each ladybug had a different wing color with spots, Ella Yellow, Rickie Red, Tommy Teal, and Olivia Orange.“

Game play is similar to that of Chutes and Ladders but still feels fresh and new – every game will play differently depending on the luck of your draw as you attempt to help your ladybug find their way home to the rosebush after a big storm sends them flying to a faraway dirt pile. You’ll encounter some difficulties on your way from aphids, tall grass, a praying mantis and ants. The first ladybug to find their way “home” wins.

My three year old doesn’t entirely grasp the concept of board games yet, still seeing them more like a small, flat doll house – but I enjoyed trying to teach him how to play. The storyline is sweet, the artwork beautiful and I think it’s a clever introduction to both board games and nature, bugs and gardening. I think this game would quickly become a classic in your home.

Zobmondo!! makes a lot of fun games that can shake things up at your next Family Game Night. We also received a copy of Would You Rather…? and You Gotta Be Kidding! for kids to review. You Gotta Be Kidding! is a younger version of the classic Would You Rather…? game with questions younger kids will be able to understand so they can play along, too! Answer questions asking players to choose between two uncomfortable choices like “Would you rather run across a hungry alligator’s back OR underneath an angry elephant?” Discuss the pros and cons of either situation and then try to guess which option most people playing will choose. Both games offer opportunity for a lot of laughter and discussion.
