It’s time for Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. Over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

I know it’s only August and for most of us, summer is still in full force, but my mind has been living in the fall these days. I’m already anticipating the leaves changing colors, drinking hot apple cider, pumpkin picking with my kids, baking pies for Thanksgiving and trick or treating this Halloween. I’ve actually already gotten costumes for both kids for Halloween this year and it got me to thinking about how we get those costumes. My Aloha Friday questions for you this week are…
- Do you make your own costumes or buy? If you buy them, where do you typically go?
- How much is too much for a Halloween costume? What do you typically spend?
- What does your family do on Halloween? Trick or treating in the neighborhood or a local event?
- Do you have any family traditions for this holiday? Will you dress up or just the kids?
Feel free to answer some or all of the questions above in the comments section below and check back soon for a review of my three year old’s Halloween costume this year – it has got to be one of the coolest costumes I’ve ever seen and I’m eager looking forward to bragging about it and the wonderful company it came from soon!

In eleven days I am going to be having my second child, a sweet baby girl (we’re doing a planned c-section, that’s the reason I know the date). So of course I’ve spent the last several weeks trying to make sure I’ve got all the little things we’ll need for our new little bundle of joy. We had to buy a new infant car seat (we sprung for this Graco Travel System) since we gave our old one away but a lot of things, like a crib, co-sleeper and pack and play we still had from our first baby – and we got a lot of great baby clothes between the gender neutral infant clothes we held onto and things we’ve been given from family and friends. So while there are still things I want (some baby wraps and carriers would be lovely and I’m very interested in trying cloth diapers this time around) we’ve got a lot of our newborn essentials down… I hope.
My Aloha Friday questions this week are:
- What are your newborn essentials? What things are a MUST?
- If you could splurge on one great thing for your next baby, what would you get?

This marks the end of Kitchen Week in our One Week One Room carnival. This week we’ve shared our favorite recipes, reviewed some great new products and even given some away. So one last thing before the beginning of Living Room Week. Tell us…
- Do you like to cook? What’s your favorite dish to prepare?
- If you could get anything for your kitchen what would it be?

We’re going to be reviewing the new Kindle 2 soon and we’d love to know…
- Do you own a Kindle or Kindle 2? If so…
- What is your favorite thing about your Kindle?
- If not, would you like to own one?
- What kind of books would you most like to read on a Kindle? What types would you still want to buy in book form (if any)?
- What is the coolest thing about the Kindle? Any things you don’t like about it?

This weekend we’ll be heading to Chilis Grill & Bar to review some of their new menu items and their awesomeness in general. Before we go, we’d LOVE to know:
What’s your favorite thing to order at Chilis?
If you’ve never been to / don’t like Chilis fare, what is your favorite restaurant? What do you order there?
