With BlogHer coming around the corner (and fast!) I have been on the lookout for some new business cards online. I want to have a card that is fresh, different, and contains all of my social networking information. It’s hard to find that with other companies, and trust me, I checked out all the competitors with no luck.

UPrinting has been in the online printing business for 25 years. They provide a large variety of quality and price conscious products ranging from business cards to vinyl banners to letterhead and more. I love the variety but out of everything it’s the business cards that hold the appeal to me. Thanks to their Design Online feature you can literally build your business cards right from scratch. This option worked out the best for me. UPrinting does have a variety of templates available that you can work off of, but the option to use my blog header on the card worked out better for me. It allows me to show more of who I am and who I am about.

Want a sneak peak of my business card? It makes me so giddy! To see the whole thing find me at BlogHer and I’ll be sure to share and gush over it with you.

I love rearranging furniture in my house. Usually when I rearrange I will call over my sister, or vise versa she calls me over to help her out. Together we twist and turn the furniture and get way too hot and sweaty trying to make them look right. Sometimes after all the moving everything goes back to the way it was when we started, which is so frustrating. I wanted a way to figure out the look I was going for before I started moving everything around.

I have found that using room planning software can make the whole experience just as fun. But instead of lifting the furniture physically all you need to do is click the mouse to pick up a piece of furniture and twist it around.

One of my favorite room planning software to use when I am attempting to figure out furniture placement is using Bob’s Discount Furniture software. I like it for a few reasons:

It’s Free!

You can do the little details and the big. Add plants, magazine racks, or a laptop to your desk. Or put in a Queen sized bed, hard wood flooring, or a rug.

You can design the room with the exact measurements of what you need. So scale won’t be an issue.

You can save your rooms for later changes or referral.

It’s easy to use from the start.

I cannot wait to plan the furniture in my new home using this software. So then I will have the right furniture in the right places. Below is the room planning I did for my dream office space. All that I need to add is a FLOR rug and I’m in heaven. Isn’t it beautiful? To plan your rooms go to Bob’s Room Planner and click “Start Planning!” I’d love to see your designs.

What I love about Bobs

Have you ever been to Bob’s Discount Furniture? It’s one of my all time favorite places to visit. I go and just fall in love with all of their furniture. The price is always right at Bob’s. For our next home purchase (soon I hope!) we have been eyeing the Patriot sofa and loveseat set. For only $799 you can get a whole living room set. It is gorgeous and priced in a way that I will be able to actually afford it.

Also, some locations feature “The Pit.” This cool section of certain stores (see all locations - those with a Pit center are notated) is the scratch and dent of furniture. It is where all of the furniture goes that might have a tiny scratch underneath or maybe someone special ordered it then changed their mind. All furniture in the Pit is usuable, gorgeous, and cheap! The price is surprising since Bob’s Discount Furniture is already so low priced. My neighbors purchased their sofa from the Pit for only $199, which is the starting price of couches. It is big, comfortable, and perfect. The only catch? You better bring a truck with you while shopping because you have to bring it home yourself and if you wait it could be gone!

Don’t be afraid to bring the children along, either. In each location they have complimentary (that means free!) cafe’s. According to Scott at my local Worcester, MA store (who was wonderful by the way!) they have candy, coffee, sodas, and even Hagen-Daz ice cream. It’s a fun outing for the whole family to enjoy!

One lucky Mommas Review reader will win the Englewood Pub from Bobs Discount Furniture – valued at $599. Winner MUST be located in MA, CT, ME, RI, NH, NJ and NY for delivery. Here’s how to enter:

We are saving for a house, while paying our current mortgage. Plus between all sorts of bills popping up I’m pretty much without spending money. So lately we have been trying new and fun ways to enjoy life without spending alot. Here are a few ideas we’ve come up with on things to do with the family that are FREE (oh, yes, I said free) that everyone can enjoy.

Go to a local park. Sure everyone says this, but we barely ever do it. What we’ve been doing is trying new parks. Going out of our comfort range and seeing what the local parks have to offer. I never knew that one of our local parks has a Bat House (Not like the Bat Cave), until we went there and read all about it. Take a drive and stop, get out and enjoy. Wonder around and see what you can find. Be sure to bring a camera because the near by Parks and Playgrounds provide the best background for long lasting pictures. Not sure where to go? Check out Kaboom! Where you can see and rate your local playspaces.

Learn a little (or a lot). Go to your local Museum, Learning Center, or even Zoo. I know, this can be super expensive to do. We have a family of four and I’ve felt the crunch of trying to get us all to go to the Boston Aquarium or one of the other local attractions. What I have learned is that alot of these local places have free days. Once a month, usually on a set day, you can attend for free. So give them all a call and write down those days. Yes, it will be much busier that day but the trip will be worth it. Also, if you are a Bank of America card holder you can go to alot of local attractions for free by just having their card. Look into it B of A customers, it could be well worth it for you!

Go Camping. In your backyard I mean. Don’t have tents? Put up some bug repelent stuff and drag out the blankets! Enjoy your own backyard in this camping adventure. It’s basically no cost and can be fun for the whole family. Start a safe fire and tells stories around it. Rent a library book about astronomy and look at the stars.

Over the next few weeks I will be growing the list to include more great ideas as me and my family experience them. Is there anything your family likes to do that is free/low cost? I love ideas!

Not long after Ange @ Red Knows How sent me a link to the following video with combines John Mayer with another one of my favorite people, Ellen Degeneres.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ayWe6ebOWc]

I’m officially a John Mayer funny video junkie so if you come across one you think I’ll like, please comment to let me know or send me an email at mommablogsalot (at) gmail (dot) com.

*

Have you ever wanted to make your own font but had no idea how to go about it? Yourfonts.com is a free online font generator that lets you create your own fonts in minutes. You’ll print a sheet that you will fill in with your handwriting, then scan it in and within 15 minutes you’ll have your very own font that you can use on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. You can make as many fonts as you want!

*

Speaking of free stuff, RedBox is offering a coupon code for a free movie every Wednesday in March. Just visit their blog, RedBlog on Wednesdays for the code. The blog itself is pretty cool, too, with articles about upcoming movies, DVD reviews, behind the scenes info and other fun things for any movie fan. I added it to my RSS feed and have been having a lot of fun perusing their archives. Definitely a great read!

*

Have you heard about the new Pepsi Natural (or maybe seen it in a store)? Sold in glass bottles for the slightly exorbitant price of $4.69 for a four pack of 12 oz. glass bottles, they do look very pretty and might intrigue people with the information that these versions of Pepsi contain no high fructose corn syrups and are sweetened with plain old sugar (42 grams of sugar I might add!). Still I’m not sure I’d spend that much for something that, at the end of the day, is still soda and still not great for you. How about you? Would you spend $12.50 per gallon (regular pepsi runs for $3.69 per gallon just to compare) for “natural” pepsi? For more great information about the new Pepsi Natural, check out keacher.com for a great review.

*

That’s all for this weekend – don’t forget Sunday is Day Light Savings time – time to Spring Forward! For more information on DST check out this neat article at Blissfully Domestic and also timeanddate.com for some easy information.

I don’t know about you but I’m always on the lookout for the perfect shoe for my son’s ever-growing feet. I want something that fits well and is healthy for his developing feet – and it’d be cool if they looked nice, too. It’s kind of sad to walk into the shoe department and see rows upon rows of pretty pink shoes for pretty pink-loving girls and about three options for your little boy. What if I don’t like options 1, 2 or 3? And are any of them the right shoe? Will they foster good foot development, be easy to run, jump and play in and last as long as his feet will fit them?

In 2002 Cause Haun gave birth to a little boy named Kai. In 2004 she created See Kai Run, a line of shoes (for boys or girls!) that match the description of my little wish list in the previous paragraph – they are healthy for developing feet boasting flexible soles, wide openings and plenty of toe box room (room for tiny toes to breathe and grow), and a leather lining that is breathable and durable. Not to mention that these shoes ooze style. I recently received a pair of Dominic shoes from See Kai Run for my two year old son and I was very impressed.

From the fun shoe box that my son commandeered for playtime, to the adorable shoes inside with an adorable sole featuring tiny little letters on tiny blocks, spelling words like jump, dance and dream (all of which they can do with ease while wearing these shoes). To put it simply, these shoes are fun! And they fit my son very well – I love that they are so thin and breathable, very easy to move around in, something that I have found is not common in a toddler boot. These are not the stiff, bulky boots that we so often find that make walking with him an even bigger pain than usual. These boots were made for walking and they’re so stylish! They have dozens of styles, with sizes ranging from infants to toddlers to 8 year olds.
