 Hotel for Dogs is a heart warming movie about two foster children who find a way to take care for not only one stray dog, Friday, but also a dozen other pooches who each have their own sweet personalities. Some things I like about this movie:

• As an adult there are times when watching a childrens movie can be barely tolerable. With Hotel for Dogs I genuinely liked watching it. The cast was adorable and though the children were not always the best of actors I wasn’t cringing while watching them.
• You’ll want to adopt all the dogs. Beware of that.
• I loved the concept that the group of kids were doing what they thought was right and stood up for what they believed in.
• I didn’t like that they broke the law multiple times and each time got away with it. This is not exactly a good morale for me to be teaching my kids.
• Sure, the movie is predictable but it does have a few unexpected twists and turns that made me smile.

My Insight

Finally a game my daughter can play for a longer period and she never bores of it. With 50 different mini games she can go back and forth and choose whatever she is in the mood for. Her favorite game is the one featured above, Dress for Success, where an adorable little girl thinks of the perfect outfit she wants to wear and you find it in the closet. Multiple people can play this and see who can find the outfit first.

All of the games are played well alone (against the computer) or in groups. This fun game will be played in our house for awhile to come. Sure, it’s not the best for adults as it is a bit juvenile - but for children, tweens and teens it is a fun game to be had!

What I love about Bobs

Have you ever been to Bob’s Discount Furniture? It’s one of my all time favorite places to visit. I go and just fall in love with all of their furniture. The price is always right at Bob’s. For our next home purchase (soon I hope!) we have been eyeing the Patriot sofa and loveseat set. For only $799 you can get a whole living room set. It is gorgeous and priced in a way that I will be able to actually afford it.

Also, some locations feature “The Pit.” This cool section of certain stores (see all locations - those with a Pit center are notated) is the scratch and dent of furniture. It is where all of the furniture goes that might have a tiny scratch underneath or maybe someone special ordered it then changed their mind. All furniture in the Pit is usuable, gorgeous, and cheap! The price is surprising since Bob’s Discount Furniture is already so low priced. My neighbors purchased their sofa from the Pit for only $199, which is the starting price of couches. It is big, comfortable, and perfect. The only catch? You better bring a truck with you while shopping because you have to bring it home yourself and if you wait it could be gone!

Don’t be afraid to bring the children along, either. In each location they have complimentary (that means free!) cafe’s. According to Scott at my local Worcester, MA store (who was wonderful by the way!) they have candy, coffee, sodas, and even Hagen-Daz ice cream. It’s a fun outing for the whole family to enjoy!

When I received this navigation device, I immediately plugged it in using the included wall charger and turned it on. After about five minutes of use I had it mastered! The Magellan line does take some getting used to, but only a few minutes and you are good to go (literally!).

The Magellan Maestro series has come out with a really cool One Touch feature.  This feature allows you to program up to nine Points of Interest (POI) into a drop down screen. This allows you to just touch, touch, and the location you are going to is all ready to go.

The Ric-Rac Child Bracelet was perfect for my seven year old daughter. The bracelet is 11.5 cm long as it is made for children 18 months and up. The style is fun and funky, and not super girlie. It was the epitome of my Cayleigh. This piece of jewelry was easy to slip onto her small wrist. I was worried that it would go flying off randomly if she gestured too wildly (she is partial Italian) so I made her do the shake test. This involved her shaking her arm and hand as hard as possible. My iPod Nano 4th generation has become a third limb to me every since I was given it as a Christmas present.  Now I’m addicted to accessorizing it thanks to companies like Belkin. Belkin makes great products that are not only for the iPod brand, I can use many of them for my other Sansa MP3 players.

One of the products that jumped out at me when I checked out the Belkin website is their Sport Armband Plus with Fast Fit. When the package came I immediately tossed out the directions and fit my iPod Nano into this sport sleeve. The iPod fit slightly off, more to one side of the holder. It wasn’t an exact fit, though the buttons all worked fine through the plastic covering. I was able to wrap my iHearSafe headphones around the small tab that clips onto the armband so they weren’t bouncing around and without looking I pulled it onto my arm and with a quick tightening it stayed right in place. I wish I ran, because I would be using it right now during a nice jog.

Belkin’s most unique product has to be the RockStar. This is the perfect gift for any tween or teen in your life. The RockStar lets you create your own mini concert with you and your friends. The small star shaped device is about the size of the palm of your hand. It plugs into any mp3 player headphone jack, then allows up to five headphones to listen in! You can even plug in multiple mp3 players and mix songs together. I ended up sharing this with my 16 year old brother in law who loves having new electronics that no one else has. He’s been using it nonstop to share music with his friends. It does not seem to hurt the sound quality at all the more people who listen in.

Hasbro’s newest way to get your family together for family game night is bringing the fun of board games to the Wii. As a mother it is important to me to find new ways for our family to spend time together and interact with each other.  When we received Hasbro Family Game Night for the Wii both of my daughters immediately decided that it was theirs and not mine.

The game declares: “Join your host Mr. Potato Head as you play classic Hasbro games as well as exciting new versions. Hasbro Family Game Night features family favorites such as Connect Four, Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, Sorry! and the all new Sorry! Sliders.”

My husband and I popped in the game and were overjoyed by the main character of this game, Mr. Potato Head! He hangs out with you every step of the way and even does fun little dances that my two year old loved duplicating. The first game we tried was Battleship. We both were confused how Battleship could be played when we both could see the screen. The round started and I was told to turn around by the game. At this point my husband was able to put his ships on the board. Then we switched. After the ships are in place the battle began. The bottom of the “game board” looked like water and rippled, and whenever a torpedo missed or hit you got a loud noise letting you know plus fun visual.

We also tried Sorry Sliders, which we don’t have the physical board for. Trust me, though, we will be getting it. Basically you just chuck your color Sorry piece into the center of the board and try to get points. The game also calls for hitting the other players pieces out of high scoring points. Think darts that you slide.

Last we sampled Yahtzee. Something my husband has never tried!  Once we figured out the buttons and the shaking process it was very much fun. The typing for the scorecard and the buttons for choosing were confusing. There were times that I chose the wrong one by accident. With some more time playing, that didn’t happen as often.

Hasbro Family Game Night for the Wii is fun and interactive. It is great for all ages and got our whole family involved. It can be purchased from Amazon for only $36.99.

The beginning was slightly irritating while learning each of the steps of the initial process. My seven year old got stuck on feeding the squirrels for quite awhile and did get frustrated. Once I walked her through the process, she was immediately satisfied and was able to continue the game without any further frustrations.

I found the graphics better on SimAnimals then I found then on the Pets Animals series of games. Though ease of play is certainly easier on the latter games.  SimAnimals does take quite a bit of time to learn the correct steps to accomplish your tasks. At least for me and Cay, it did!  I love the way that with the Wii controller the game becomes interactive. You must motion the controller for the animal to move, which is always really neat.
