Aloha Friday: Help!

Category : Featured Reviews, around the home, memes & carnivals

It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

I’m reviewing this adorable Vinyl Wall Cling Growth Wall Chart from Stampin’ Up and I’ve run into a bit of a snafu. You see, we live in an apartment so we really want the chart to be on something portable so that it can move with us when we get our first house (hopefully sooner than later!). The armoir we were going to put it on turns out – it’s a bit textured and won’t work as the wall clings need a smooth surface to cling to. So now we’re at a loss for what to do…

Any ideas?

Maybe a sheet or two of the thick posterboard. The stuff with the foamy layer in the middle. That should be reasonably sturdy and yet still portable for when you move.

Could you use a piece of wood? With the help of a router, the edges could be done beautifully. Then you’d have the option to paint it or whatnot and hang it up.

All of our walls have a slight texture to them and I just grabbed the hairdryer to warm up the vinyl a little while applying it. The heat seemed to help the vinyl behave with the textures….

    Good luck!

I would attach the vinyl to another object such as wood or posterboard. You can stand it on the ground to measure the kids and then put it under a bed for storage. When you’re in a permanent house you can rethink what to do with it.

    Come on!

Run down to Home Depot and grab a cheap length of 2×10 pine. You can get some moulding and glue it on to finish the edges. Put the vinyl on that.

Sounds like you’ve got all the answers you’ll need! I agree w/ all of them. Just choose the one that sounds the best for you guys.

I hated having to paint over the kid’s growth chart @ our last house. In this one I just haven’t bothered.

Could you put it on a nice looking board? Then when you move you can hang the board in your new home.

I might try to get something like a floor standing (not on a stand) mirror in a frame, only not a mirror… Then it will be functional, pretty, and you can move it with you!
